"The Masters" Ben Dean-Kawamura & Lloyd Kawamura tie for first with 8 out of 10 possible points with "The No Names" Fred Haley & Kwan Lan. In the beginners section "The Dragons" Michael Nurnberger & Raphael Leonard tie for 1st with 5 out of 6 possible points with the "Chess Invaders" Daniel Macalino and Mickey Davis.
Cornelius Rubsamen wins the rated section 5.5-.5 score followed closely behind by Chet Gionson with a score of 5-1. The unrated section was won by Sean Arakaki with a perfect score of 7-0.

The unrated section was won by the favorite and father Ray Leonard with a perfect score of 7-0, The big story was youngster Mickey Davis who finished 2nd with a score of 5-0.

A larger than normal crowd watches on to see Cornelius Rubsamen win the rated section in a tune up for the Rapid State Championships which are coming up July 4th. In the unrated section Sean Sackett goes undefeated to lead the crowd.

Cornelius wins the Summer Blitz with score of 10. Close behind with 9 were Ruben Ondangan and Paul Iinuma. The tournament proved popular with 33 entrants. It was run with the same format and rules (WBCA as interpreted by TD) as the State Blitz Championship scheduled for Saturday, 2 September. Click on this link for the cross table.

Cornelius Rubsamen wins clear 1st place with 6.5. Eric Sakurai, visiting from California and Mike Morrison tie for second at 5.5. The Cookie Corner at the Town Center provided 3rd place prizes.
